I.                   Committee Reports

II.                Old Business

A.     Eleven boys from Troop 5 attended Camporee in Perryville, MO on April 29- May 1st.   There were 208 boys in attendance.   The merit badge pre-requisite, of visiting a Veterinarian was arranged by Mr. Renaud and took place on April 26th at the Cape Small Animal Clinic. All 11 boys completed the Veterinarian Medicine merit badge.   Thanks to Mr. Renaud for making the arrangements.

B.     Webelos weekend will be held the weekend of the 22nd and 23rd of October.  Mr. Pat Ruopp is coordinating this weekend once again.  It was decided to contact the Eagle Corp to assist with this event.

C.     The M.S. walk took place on April 10th from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.  Five scouts and three adults participated.  Their picture was in the Southeast Missourian.

The Dragon Patrol has been taken on by Mr. Renaud.   According to Mr. Renaud they will not be merged in with the Wolverine Patrol.

Boys still interested in completing the salesmanship Merit Badge need to meet with  Rhonda Wessel.  She is at the Troop meeting tonight to help the boys finish this badge.

The family weekend at camp SEMO scheduled for August 12-14 has been cancelled.  This is the weekend before school starts and there were too many conflicts.

Troop 5 committed to help put up and take down flags for the VFW on April 2nd.  Support by our Troop was minimal.  Was this due to scheduling conflicts or lack of communication?  Should we have our communications committee function for all Troop events?

The VFW campout and service project went well.  They completed 8 different projects.

Camp Ondessonk, scheduled for May 14, 2005 has been cancelled.  There was some concern that we would not have enough adults to supervise the scouts.

Junior Leadership Training is available for two dates this summer, June 26th – July 2nd and July 10th – 16th.  For a scout to be eligible to attend JLT, he must have attended 2 scout summer camps.  The cost is $160.00 per scout.

Scout Camp is June 19-25th.  Money was due to Mr. Hampton by the 27th of April.  Those still interested in going may pay $150.00 to the scout office.  Dr. Griffith will provide troop 5 scout physicals on May 25th from 4:30 p.m. until we finish.  His office is located on the 4th floor of the Fitness Plus Building.  Bring your medical forms!!  We must have 3 adults at scout camp at any point in time.  Mr. Renaud will be there all week.  Mr. Hampton will be there until Wednesday night or Thursday morning, and Mr. Kinder will be there from Sunday through Wednesday.  That leaves one leader from Thursday to Saturday.  I understand that Dr. Dawson, Mr. Hinton and Mr. Flesher plan to attend scout camp at some point during the week.  If anyone else is planning to attend, please let me know.

Court of Honor is May 22nd at 2:00 p.m. at the VFW.  Set-up for the Court of Honor will be Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m.  We have decided to hand out merit badges at the Troop meeting to conserve time.

VFW representative Mr. Bill Humphries has been in contact with many individuals to determine their interest in becoming Scoutmaster of Troop 5.  At this time no one has committed to taking on this position.

New Business

Troop 5 has been asked to set-up tent flies for Adventure Day.  (This event is for individuals with special needs).  Our Troop meeting on May 11th will be at Cape County Park South, #20, so that we can accomplish this task.  We will ask the communications committee to function.

Mr. Hampton has contacted Bill Crowell of the Boy Scout office to assist him on obtaining names of Cub Scouts that did not cross over into Boy Scouts.  He would like to have these boys contacted in order to talk with them about Boy Scouts.  Mr. Hampton also mentioned the possibility of having a pizza night at the grade and middle schools to show them a power point on Scouting.

We will be showing pictures of Camporee and the VFW campout in the Scout meeting this evening.
