Service may be affected any day from midnight to 6am for the performance of maintenance. Your Internet access in those hours may be unpredictable.

(Note from the Show-Me Net Staff:  While we attempt to return all calls left on the voice mail system, any outage generates many calls.  We are not able to return them all.   But, we do quickly update this page.  Please look here often.)

June 24, 2008  Because of a phone company outage, users could not connect from 8:52am-9:47am. Typically, users were seeing the "718" error.

May 4, 2008  Because of a phone company outage, users could not connect from 9:29am-11:37am. Typically, users were seeing the "718" or "691" error.

April 23, 2008  Because of a phone company outage, users could not connect from approximately 9am-11am. Typically, users were seeing the "718" or "691" error.

March 23, 2008  Because of a major phone company outage, users could not connect for periods of time in the afternoon and early evening. Typically, users were seeing the "718" error.

February 12-13, 2008  Power was lost to the Show-Me Net office early morning Feb. 13 and wasn't restored until 3pm Feb. 13. Our Internet equipment was fully operational during this time, but we could not respond to Help Desk calls.

November 5, 2007  Some users could not log on approximately 1:45 to 3:15pm. The problem resulted from a failing piece of equipment with the phone company. When the phone company switched to different equipment, some users were not disconnected properly and therefore couldn't log on.

July 30, 2007  There was a problem from approximately 1:00-2:00pm. During this time, users couldn't disconnect properly. The problem was cleared by resetting the authentication equipment at the phone company.

November 21, 2006  There was a total outage from approximately 7pm to 8pm.  Problems at the phone company caused members to get a busy signal or a "not authorized" recording.

June 15, 2006  Beginning at about 5:30pm, many users had problems connecting.  The issue was resolved around 9:30pm.  The outage was caused by problems with phone company equipment.

June 9, 2006  Beginning at about 9:30am, some users had problems connecting.  The issue was resolved in the early evening.   Problems with phone company equipment were the cause.

May 7 & 8, 2006  There were three outages the evening of May 7 and the morning of May 8 when users could connect but not authenticate their user names and passwords.  The equipment with the phone company that authenticates users was having problems.

Apr. 14, 2006  From 2:50am to 8:42am--No users were able to connect.  Problems with phone company equipment prevented connections.

Apr. 13, 2006  From 2:07am to 6:23am--No users were able to connect.  Problems with phone company equipment prevented connections.

Feb 2, 2006  From 9:48pm to 10:28pm--No users were able to connect.  Problems with phone company equipment prevented connections.

Dec 12, 2005  Approximately 8-10:30am--Problems with phone company network equipment caused quick disconnections for users.

Aug 30, 2005  Midnight-8am--Problems with phone company equipment caused some difficulty in navigating to websites outside the Show-Me Net server.  E-mail and webpages on the Show-Me Net server were accessible.

Aug 2-3, 2005  Problems with phone company equipment caused some difficulty in establishing connections for some users.

June 2, 2005  9:05am-10:45am--A power surge in Cape Girardeau caused some of the phone company equipment to reset.  Connections could not be established during this time period.

January 12, 2005  9:00am-9:45am--The mail server and web server were down during this time for a planned outage to physically move the server from Jackson to Cape Girardeau.

August 24, 2004  Between approximately 4am and 8am, there were problems in the telephone central office that cause all Show-Me Net lines to be busy or return an error recording.  An investigation is underway. 

May 30-June 1, 2004  Members calling into Zalma could not connect intermittently during this time.  There was a combination of equipment and phone company problems.  As of June 1, we have taken permanent measures to improve our service in Zalma by switching our phone service to another provider.

Apr 22, 2004  Members calling into Leopold, Zalma, or Patton could not connect for about 2 hours early this morning.  There was a system-wide outage in the MOREnet system.

Apr 7, 2004  The Zalma modem pool was out of service for several hours from about midnight until 1:30pm.  The T-1 line supplied by SBC was out of order.  SBC reported that they had a "defective tie pair".

Mar 22, 2004  The Zalma modem pool was out of service for several hours in the afternoon and early evening.  The T-1 line supplied by SBC was out of order.  SBC reported that they had a "defective patch".

Mar 18, 2004  There was a power outage in the city of Jackson at mid-day for about an hour.  This affected connections to the Jackson modem pool.  Read details.

Feb 24-Mar 2, 2004  After we made equipment upgrades at Perryville and Benton, we encountered a problem that caused difficulty in establishing an initial connection and frequent premature disconnections.  A change was made in the software on March 2 that appeared to fix the problem.  We are continuing to monitor.

Feb 4, 2004  Our authentication service with MOREnet was not operational from about 8pm until midnight. All Show-Me Net equipment was working fine, all modems were answering, but member names and passwords could not be authenticated

Jan 28, 2004  The secondary number at Benton started giving the recording "all trunks are busy" at about 5pm. All the Show-Me Net equipment tested good, so a report was issued to SBC. At about 9:45am on Jan. 29, SBC reported that the trunks had been placed in "maintenance busy" for some unknown reason. Service was restored by SBC.

Jan 28-29, 2004  Beginning around noon today, calls to the Zalma number received the recording "all trunks are busy". A trouble ticket was established with SBC. Their testing showed the T-1 line from their switch was out of service. Around 8:30pm service was restored by SBC. Then on the morning of Jan. 29, service was again down for about an hour. SBC reported that they had trouble with the cable pair serving Show-Me Net.

Jan 23, 2004  Beginning around noon today and lasting until 4pm, callers to our Jackson modem pool experienced more busy signals than normal. The problem was that SBC had again tried to make a change to our service, and made an error which disabled some of our lines.

Dec 15, 2003  From 3:30pm until 5:45pm, MOREnet was unable to verify user IDs and passwords.  They had to reboot a computer and reload some data.  During this period, users who were already connected remained connected, but no new users were able to connect.

Nov 21-Dec 4, 2003  During this period, there was a severe slowdown of service at our Perryville modem pool.  Over a period of several days, several experts were involved from Show-Me Net, MOREnet, and SBC.  After much testing and equipment replacement, the problem was finally resolved on the afternoon of Dec. 4.  We really appreciate all our faithful Perryville members who stuck with us during this outage.  A major upgrade of the equipment at Perryville is planned in the next 2-3 months which will give Perryville all new 56k modems and improved service.

Sept. 5, 2003  There was a power outage in Benton at approximately 10:50am that lasted for one hour.  Show-Me Net service was unavailable during the outage for the Benton and Oran pre-fixes. 

July 28, 2003  Service was very slow and connections were difficult for a few hours today for members calling into the Perryville number.  Some of the equipment in the Perry Park Center was loading down the system.  Service was restored mid-afternoon.  We're sorry for the inconvenience.

July 13, 2003  MOREnet updated some of their equipment between midnight and 6am, and there were some intermittent outages during this time.

June 30/July 1, 2003 During the evening of June 30 and the morning of July 1, one of our routers that connects to the Internet was down.  This caused several users to not be able to connect.  The problem has now been resolved.

June 19, 2003 The Perryville modem pool was down from about 3:30pm-6:30pm for unknown reasons.  We're investigating.

May 6 & 7, 2003   Due to a storm in Jackson, Show-Me Net's web/mail server went down at 8:46 p.m., May 6.  It was restored at 3:46 a.m., May 7.  Later Wednesday (May 7), power in Jackson was down from approximately 11am to 11:30am.

May 1, 2003  Due to storms, power in Benton was down from approximately 11 AM-1:00 PM.

April 15, 2003 Southwestern Bell performed regular maintenance on their equipment between 3 and 6 a.m. on Tuesday, April 15, 2003. Show-Me Net members may have experienced delays.

Feb. 16, 2003.  MOREnet  performed maintenance on networking equipment early Sunday, February 16, 2003.  Show-Me Net members may not have been  able to connect at times during the regular maintenance window (midnight to 6 a.m.)

Jan. 26, 2003   Show-Me Net staff moved data and software to a new, faster computer.  E-mail and the showme.net home page were unavailable  between  8:00 AM and 1:00 PM. Members were still able to log into the modems and surf the Internet.

Jan. 19, 2003  The Jackson power outage scheduled for 1:00 AM Sunday morning, January 19 (see story in the Southeast Missourian) shut down all service in Jackson.  Dial up service was restored shortly after the 1 ½ hour power outage.  Email and Show-Me Net's own home pages were restored around 11:00 am.

Jan. 16, 2003  5:00am to 10:00am.  The first 60 lines in the Benton modem pool were down. Around 10:00am, a member notified Show-Me Net staff of the outage, which was promptly corrected.  Members are encouraged to call 204-1097 to report any total outage.  We can't fix it if we don't know it's broke!

Jan. 10-15, 2003  The last 24 modems in the Benton modem pool were not available several times during this period due to phone line problems.  MOREnet worked with SBC to find why these lines repeatedly went out of service. 

Jan. 10, 2003   12:15PM    The Benton modem pool was down due to utility construction in the area.
