How To Get Maps From MSDIS

You must have WinZip to decompress these map files.
Click here to download WinZip.

From the MSDIS website, click the "Data" tab.



Click the "FTP..." link



Double click the, "county" folder.



Double click the county folder you want to download.



Double click "Stateplane"



Double click the data you would like.



Click "Save"



Select the folder that contains your map data, and click "Save"



When you get this box, click "Open".  This will Start WinZip.



Choose the file, and click "Extract"



Make sure you know where the file is extracting.  Click "Extract."



Open Arcatalog
Click "View"
Click "Toolbars"
Put a checkmark beside "ArcView 8x Tools"



Click the "Conversion Tools" button.
Click on "Import from Interchange File..."




Click the folder next to Input file.  Find the file that you unzipped.
Click the folder next to Output dataset, you can name the file any thing you would like.



Open ArcMap, you will what to choose "New Map."
Click the "Add Data" button, it looks like a "+" at the top.



Choose the file you created.  Click "Add"



You are done!!!
